Six inmates indicted for stabbing corrections officers at Wallens Ridge State Prison

Six inmates at Wallens Ridge State Prison have been indicted on sixty-six felony charges following an attack on three Virginia Department of Corrections officers earlier this year. The announcement was made by Attorney General Jason Miyares and Wise County and City of Norton Commonwealth’s Attorney Brett Hall.

The incident occurred on May 2, 2025, when six gang-affiliated inmates assaulted three correctional officers. Two of the officers were stabbed multiple times, while a third officer was also assaulted during the attack.

A Grand Jury returned multiple indictments after extensive investigations into the case. Attorney General Jason Miyares stated, “On May 2, 2025, six gang-affiliated inmates at Wallens Ridge attacked three correctional officers. Two corrections officers were stabbed multiple times and another corrections officer was assaulted during the attack.”

Wise County and City of Norton Commonwealth’s Attorney Brett Hall added that a Grand Jury indicted six inmates with a total of sixty-six counts of felony criminal charges.
