The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia announced on Mar. 31 that registration is now open for the Twelfth Annual Western District of Virginia Bankruptcy Conference, which will take place in person on May 29 at Roanoke College’s Wortman Ballroom in the Colket Center in Salem, Virginia.
The conference is a key event for legal professionals and staff working with bankruptcy cases in the region. There is no charge to attend, and staff members are encouraged to participate.
According to organizers, the event will begin at 8:45 a.m. and conclude at 4:40 p.m., offering attendees a full day of programming. A map showing the location of the Colket Center and three nearby parking lots will be posted on the Court’s website before the conference date; there is no parking available directly at the center itself. The program schedule can be accessed online, and additional conference materials will be posted as they become available closer to the event date.
Organizers have applied to the Virginia State Bar for six hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit, including one hour focused on ethics. The agenda also includes a breakout session titled “Bridging the Gap: Navigating Two Chapter 13 Trustee Offices,” designed specifically for staff members.
A buffet lunch costing $12.50 per person will be offered in Roanoke College’s cafeteria within Colket Center. Attendees are asked to indicate how many people from their party plan to attend lunch when registering. Those requiring special assistance due to accessibility needs or allergies should notify cgriessmayer@ch13wdva.com at least ten working days before the event.
Registration can be completed online by providing names and email addresses for all participants being registered together. Organizers request that registrations be submitted by May 15 so they can prepare an accurate head count for lunch arrangements. Questions about registration may be directed to Jim Reynolds at james_reynolds@vawb.uscourts.gov.
