Governor Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares attended a significant ceremony today in Richmond, Virginia. Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old battling brain cancer, was sworn in as an Honorary State Trooper, Honorary Correctional Officer, Honorary Probation and Parole Officer, Honorary Petersburg Officer, and Henrico County Firefighter.
DJ Daniel and his father Theodis have been on a remarkable journey across the United States. DJ’s goal is to be sworn in by 1,000 law enforcement agencies—a milestone he has exceeded by being sworn into over 1,350 agencies.
The young boy gained national recognition earlier this year when President Trump introduced him before he was sworn in as an honorary Secret Service member. On May 1, 2025, DJ received special acknowledgment with his appointment as an honorary Virginia Sheriff and returned to Richmond today for further honors.
