A former employee has filed a lawsuit against a major defense contractor, alleging defamation and other misconduct that he claims have severely damaged his career and reputation. Marcus Jamel Straker filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on November 10, 2025, against General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. (GDIT).
Straker’s lawsuit accuses GDIT of making false allegations about him being an “insider threat” and engaging in espionage activities, which led to his removal from a U.S. Army base in Germany where he was employed as a Systems Engineer. According to the complaint, these accusations were made shortly after Straker had raised concerns about workplace discrimination and misuse of government resources within the company. Straker claims that these defamatory statements were not only baseless but also part of a retaliatory effort by GDIT to discredit him following his resignation notice.
The complaint details an incident on August 6, 2024, when Straker was escorted out of his workplace by military police without explanation. He alleges that David Rasmussen, GDIT’s Project Manager at the time, circulated communications labeling him as an insider threat while omitting any mention of his resignation or prior complaints about workplace issues. Furthermore, Straker contends that GDIT continued to portray him negatively in communications with government officials even after acknowledging internally that there was no misconduct on his part.
Straker is seeking substantial damages for economic losses exceeding $50 million due to lost career opportunities in federal contracting. Additionally, he is claiming more than $25 million for reputational harm and emotional distress caused by the alleged defamation and retaliatory actions. The lawsuit also seeks punitive damages up to $350,000 under Virginia law and requests injunctive relief requiring GDIT to retract false statements made to the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General.
Representing himself pro se in this legal battle, Marcus Jamel Straker faces off against one of the largest defense contractors in the country. The case has been assigned to Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff with Magistrate Judge Ivan D. Davis providing referral oversight under Case ID 1:25-cv-02008-MSN-IDD.
