A Danville man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia.

Bryan Eugene Whitehead, 44, pleaded guilty in May 2025 to charges related to the distribution of fentanyl. The sentencing took place on October 24.

Court documents indicate that investigators identified Whitehead as a fentanyl distributor in early 2024. Law enforcement agencies including the Danville Police Department, Virginia State Police, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) conducted controlled purchases from Whitehead during their investigation. These included the purchase of an ounce of fentanyl.

The announcement was made by Robert N. Tracci, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, and Anthony A. Spotswood, Special Agent in Charge of ATF’s Washington Field Division.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Danville Police Department, and Virginia State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Keith Parrella and Matthew Miller prosecuted the case.
